A poetic prayer for the lost sheep

In a world with constant noise and overwhelming sound,
I can’t help but wonder if those that are lost will still be found

My prayers have been sent, my pleas have been made,
But it still feels as though it’s all the same and nothing has changed

You’ve given them eyes, you’ve given them ears,
But right now they don’t see and right now they don’t hear

I have this treasure in a jar of clay,
An incredible treasure that no man could take away

My heart was once hard, as hard as a stone,
But you’ve turned it to flesh, no longer hard like a bone

Will you do the same for them? Will you open their eyes to see?
That no man can bring endless love and eternal joy, except for thee?

Jesus Christ, I trust that with your word things can change,
By just your word it can be
By just your word they will see

You’ve breathed your breath into each of us,
Now our job is to look to you and to you alone, we trust.

Make them see
Open ears
Soften hearts
Reverent fear

To you we give the glory
I pray this too, will be their story

We ask all these things to the one who sees us,
It’s in your mighty name we pray, Jesus.
