A Poem inspired by Isaiah 64:8

This poem felt like a gift from God to me during our quiet time.  He started speaking these words to me and it felt like he was trying to remind me of my worth to him, even when the enemy tried to use other people and my own thoughts to devalue my significance to God.  As a child, I heard “you are a mistake”, but God has redeemed those lies and replaced them with His truth that I am actually “chosen, loved, and created by him”.  God makes no mistakes, so why would I be the exception?  So here’s my reminder to you, we are no exception in God’s great plan… He has picked you and created you with his own hands.  You are not a mistake.

You are not a mistake.
God intended for you.

You may have been a surprise to your earthly mother and father,
But our God was not surprised, for He is the potter.

God created you in the womb,
He knit you together piece by piece,
Us not even realizing that he said,
THIS is a masterpiece”.

You are chosen.
You are called.
You are loved- what a gift.

That the creator of the world, chose you for such a time as this.

When you chose me, you didn’t reject me-
Those were simply lies from the evil enemy.

For my Father is not only Lord, but he’s also the potter.

Lord shape me, Lord mold me,
Lord, grow me by your hands.
Make me more like you,
Who created me in your image and not just by chance.

For you, Lord, are the potter
And we are the clay,
You created us in your image-
To follow the life, the truth, and the way.

So God, when the lie of “mistake” comes again to my head,
Help me to remember the words that you’ve said instead…

You are for me, not against me-
You have plans set before me.

I am not a mistake.
I am not just by chance.
For my Father in Heaven,
Knit me perfectly by His hand.

A little light he put forth-
There in my mother’s womb.
God help me now to share your light,
Shining brightly and specifically for you.
